A Motorcycle-Themed Bar Is Coming to Alberta Street - Eater Portland

culamoto.blogspot.com

A new bar serving burgers, wings, and barbecue is opening on Alberta this weekend. Parts and Service, taking over the Stella Taco space across from the Alberta Rose Theater, will have a strong motorcycle theme, with mounted bikes indoors and a menu well-suited to a roadhouse.

Parts and Service comes from husband-wife team Brandon and Lindsay Reed. The two have experience working in Portland restaurants — Brandon worked at the now-closed Echo and Lindsay at Allium and Bamboo Sushi. But the new bar is inspired by Brandon’s passion for motorcycles, which led to them custom-building the moto-themed bar. “We built everything ourselves, from tables to booths,” says Brandon Reed. “The tables are welded metal, and there’s lots of solid wood. It feels a bit like a motorcycle shop, but slightly elevated.” In addition to some mounted motorcycles throughout the bar, it will also have televisions for screening live races and old motorcycle films once the indoors are safe for dining again.

For the menu, the team is going with burgers, wings, and barbecue. Sage Houser, who spent time at the famed barbecue cart Matt’s BBQ, will work as pitmaster, smoking brisket, ribs, and pulled pork to go with tavern-style burgers and wings, including Buffalo, spicy barbecue, and garlic-parmesan. There will also be vegan options, including Impossible Burgers and smoked portabella sandwiches. The goal, Brandon Reed says, is to “keep it really simple, affordable, and high-quality so people can come in and have a nice meal and a few beers and pay like $20.”

In addition to a lunch and dinner menu, weekends will also see a $10 brunch box offering, featuring up to four items from a list of six to eight options. These will hew Southernly, with items like biscuits and gravy, grits, sausage, bacon, eggs, and French toast. All items will be available to go, and down the line the team will work with delivery services.

For the bar, patrons can expect a draught list of about four beers, including a Parts and Service IPA made by the Labrewatory. Cocktails are likewise pretty simple, with a number of recognizable drinks given a slight twist. Drinks come with moto-themed names; for instance, the Reeds named a negroni variation with rye whiskey and Meletti amaro after Moto Guzzi, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer. Drinks may not be available for takeout at opening, but Brandon Reed says they’ll be quick to implement a service.

For the time being, seating will be limited to some sidewalk tables with tents and heaters; there will be room for around 15 guests at opening, but an emphasis on takeout. Masked diners will be able to order at the covered bar. Initially, hours will be from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekends with brunch running until around 2 p.m.

Parts and Service will open Saturday, January 30 at 2940 NE Alberta Street.
