FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The motorcycle rider killed in a crash in central Fresno has been identified as Fresno County Correctional Officer Randy Villalobos, the sheriff's office said on Friday.

The 33-year-old was on his way home from work, officials say, when he collided with a pickup truck near the intersection of West and Princeton Avenues in Fresno.

Officials say he's been with the sheriff's office since 2013. Villalobos was known for being an exemplary officer, keen on sharing his knowledge with his peers.

He is survived by his mother, father, fiancée and a young child.

Fresno police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash on Friday morning.

The crash happened at West and Princeton Avenues around 6:00 am.


Officials say the motorcycle rider was driving north on West Avenue when a pickup truck on westbound Princeton Avenue pulled out in front of him.

The motorcyclist was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police say he was in his mid-30s.

The truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with officers, officials said.


Both directions of West Avenue were blocked between Brown and Michigan Avenues.
