WESTFIELD — A man operating a motorcycle died early Wednesday in a collision with a car on Montgomery Road in the Wyben section of the city, according to a fire official.
Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Kane said the man, whose name is not available, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Westfield police are investigating the crash. Through Wednesday morning, police had not issued any information about the crash.
Massachusetts State Police also sent an accident reconstruction team to the site to assist with the investigation.
Kane said firefighters were called to assist the crash scene, in the area of 563 Montgomery Road, just before 4:30 a.m.
The motorcycle apparently crashed into the rear of a motor vehicle, he said.
This is a developing story and more information will be posted as it is known.
