Quality is a trait that is constantly sought-after in the auto repair industry and a trait that is elusive for those not focused on it.
For the Readers’ Choice winner for Best Car Repair, Moorhead Automotive Center, it’s a focus Jeff Moorhead tries to maintain at all costs.
“We focus on providing old-school-style professional, honest and ethical automotive, light truck and RV service,” Moorhead says. “We are a full-service shop and specialize in gasoline, diesel-powered, hybrid and electric-powered vehicles. We perform services ranging from smog checks, maintenance services, diagnostics, to brakes and transmission or engine repairs and everything in between.”
“We like people to know what they are facing up front,” Moorhead says. “They know when they come to our shop we will accurately diagnose the problem, provide them with a fair estimate and repair their vehicle professionally and properly.”
Moorhead and his staff focus their efforts on quality, honesty and integrity while maintaining a reputation for being a reliable service source.
“I think that means a lot to most people,” Moorhead says.
That’s evidenced by this year’s award. Moorhead Automotive last won the award in 2018. They’ve previously won Best Smog Service accolades from the DR’s readers.
Moorhead and his technicians constantly update their training and qualifications to meet the requirements of the ever-evolving auto industry.
The days of tightening a few bolts and belts and calling it a day are long gone. Car models are all different and computer software controls and an increasing number of automotive systems.
“We have to get it right,” Moorhead says. Of the need for continuing training, he says, “It’s just something that has to be done.”
While Melissa and Jeff Moorhead and the staff have put in a great deal of effort to gain and keep customer trust since the shop opened in 1998, Jeff Moorhead ultimately credits his customers with the company’s success.
“I give all the credit to our customers. They have a lot of trust in us,” he says. “We’re very blessed to have them.”
“Our customers know we are going to give them honest, ethical, professional service at a fair price with a free American flag at the end,” Moorhead says. When put all together, that is “a rare combination.”
