A Columbus man died Tuesday, just more than two days after he was involved in a motorcycle crash on the West Side.
John Hogan, 59, of the South Side, was driving a 1986 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Sullivant Avenue near Helen Street around 10:55 a.m. Sunday when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle went off the right side of the road, Columbus police reported Thursday.
Hogan crashed into a bush and a metal handrail that was behind the bush. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
Hogan was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition. He died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, about 50 hours after the crash.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation, police said.
There have been 47 traffic fatalities in Columbus in 2021.
