SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department has arrested the driver of a pickup truck who they say crashed into a motorcycle carrying two riders and fled the scene.

Booking records show Brian Le Mar Keaton, 37, faces two counts of failure to stop and render aid following the crash early Sunday at Randolph Boulevard and Overlook Road on the Northeast Side.

An arrest affidavit states Keaton, who was driving a 2017 Ford F-150, crashed into the back of a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was turning left from the northbound lanes of Randolph onto Overlook.

The motorcycle was carrying a 37-year-old driver and his 47-year-old uncle, the affidavit states.

Investigators said the motorcycle driver had extended his left arm as his turn signal was not working.

The truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the motorcycle, records show.

Both men were thrown from the motorcycle as it slid across the street. Meanwhile, Keaton continued north on Randolph Road, and the motorcycle driver saw him turn into a residential area, police said.

The two men picked up the motorcycle, began walking home and called relatives for help.

Both men were taken to Methodist Hospital Northeast by family.

Police said the motorcycle driver had “severe abrasions” on his body, and his uncle suffered a broken right hand.

Surveillance footage and debris from the crash indicated the truck was a dark-colored Ford F-150.

Investigators went to the residential area where they believed the truck driver fled and found a damaged 2017 Ford F-150 in “public view” in a driveway.

A detective made contact with the resident, later identified as Keaton, who initially lied about driving the truck, but later confessed to striking the motorcycle, the affidavit states.

He told police that he fled because he was “scared,” investigators said. He said he returned to the scene in his spouse’s vehicle 20 minutes later, but he left when he did not see the motorcyclists or police.

Online jail records show that he was arrested on Tuesday.
