A St. Louis man was injured in a motorcycle accident late Saturday afternoon (March 27) on Sandy Creek Road in the area west of Pevely.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Carl Hettenhausen, 62, was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson Softail east on Sandy Creek Road east of Girl Scout Road at 5:50 p.m. when he swerved to avoid an oncoming car and rode off the right side of the road. The motorcycle went airborne and struck a tree, the report said.
Hettenhausen sustained moderate injuries and he was taken by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, the report said.
An update on his condition was not available.
Hettenhausen was wearing a safety helmet, the report said. The motorcycle had moderate damage.
