Lyon County deputies are investigating after an injury crash involving a motorcycle and a deer between Emporia and Allen early Tuesday.
Lyon County Deputy Zach Shafer says deputies and Emporia-Lyon County EMS responded to the 2800 block of Road L, about 10 miles north of Emporia, right around 5:30 am. The early indications are 34-year-old Michael Scott Simmons of Allen was southbound when he swerved to miss a deer and was thrown from his motorcycle.
Emporia Fire Capt. Bill Harmon says Simmons was actually found two miles south of the wreck site in the 2600 block of L.
Simmons was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment. The extent of his injuries has not been released.
