Motorcycle driver, passenger injured after Tuesday crash

COLUMBUS, Ind. – A motorcyclist, traveling north on U.S. 31, just south of County Road 100S, at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, failed to stop for slowed traffic. After skidding approximately 75 feet, the motorcycle came to a rest on the east side of the roadway. The driver, identified as Tony Michael, 53, of North Vernon, along with a female passenger were both thrown from the cycle.

Michael was transported to Columbus Regional Health and the woman was flown to an Indianapolis hospital. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, Major Chris Lane, reminds motorists to watch for motorcycles now that warmer weather means that more will be out on the roadways. “I also want to remind motorcyclists to follow all rules of the road as well and to wear protective gear.”
