A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to the hospital by helicopter after a crash near Woodstock Sunday evening.
The Woodstock Fire-Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:53 p.m. Sunday to the 8200 block of Mason Hill Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a vehicle crash with injuries.
A spokesperson for the Woodstock Fire-Rescue District said that emergency crews arrived within nine minutes and located a single motorcycle in the ditch.
The driver of the motorcycle suffered extensive injuries and a medical helicopter was requested.
An ambulance transported the man to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital to an awaiting LifeNet helicopter.
The helicopter flew the victim to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, which is a level one trauma center, with life-threatening injuries.
No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office closed Mason Hill Road in both directions for approximately three hours for a crash investigation.
Earlier in the day Sunday afternoon, the Woodstock Fire-Rescue District responded to another motorcycle crash a quarter-mile east of the second crash.
A male motorcycle rider was transported to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries in the first crash.
It is unclear what caused both of the crashes. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has not immediately released details on either.
