GALAX, Va. (WFXR) — First responders in Galax were dispatched to a motorcycle that had crashed and caught fire, leaving two people injured.
According to the Galax Fire Department’s Facebook post on Monday, May 24, the crash occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. at 295 Meadow Creek Road.
When units arrived, they found the motorcycle in a ditch and on fire.
The department says both riders were away from the burning bike, but did suffer burns and other injuries as a result of the crash. However, both of them were reportedly conscious and alert.
Fire officials say Baywood Search and Rescue Squad and Galax-Grayson EMS handled care and transport to the hospital for treatment, with one patient being airlifted because of the extent of their injuries.
Virginia State Police is investigating the cause of the crash.
