The woman killed in a motorcycle crash on Central Turnpike last weekend in Sutton has been identified as 28-year-old Kaylie Piekarczyk.

The Charlton woman was riding her motorcycle on Saturday, May 22 at about 2:30 p.m. heading westbound before the crash, according to the office of Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. She was taken to UMass Memorial’s university campus in Worcester where she was pronounced dead.

An SUV was traveling eastbound at the time of the crash. Piekarczyk’s motorcycle drifted onto the dirt shoulder and she was thrown onto the eastbound side of the road, the district attorney’s office said. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.

Piekarczyk is survived by her father, Joel Piekarczyk, of Charlton; mother, Lisa (Jedrzynski) Kubiak; husband, Kerry; sister, Shelby Piekarczyk, and brother, Derek Piekarczyk; maternal grandmother, Florence Jedrzynski, of North Oxford; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is remembered by loved ones as a free spirit with a zest for life.

“Kaylie lived life to the fullest and on her terms,” her obituary reads. “To be loved by Kaylie was to be fiercely loved by the most loyal, kind and generous person. She accepted every challenge or bump in the road with a smile on her face and a just watch me attitude.”

Piekarczyk worked as a certified activities director and dementia care practitioner in long-term care facilities, a career she was passionate about.

She loved to ride motorcycles and horses. She played softball for many years on local teams and was coaching her own this year, The Misfits.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 2 at St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster. Burial will be in St. Josephs Garden of Peace old Worcester Rd. Webster.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 1 from 5-8 pm at Bartel Funeral Home, 33 Schofield Ave. in Dudley.
