BROOKSVILLE — A 68-year-old Brooksville man died Sunday from injuries he received when his motorcycle collided with an SUV a week earlier east of Brooksville.

The collision occurred about 11:15 a.m. Sept. 19 on State Road 50 at Windermere Road, just east of Interstate 75, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The SUV was headed east and turned left into the path of the westbound motorcycle, the Highway Patrol said. The motorcycle hit the SUV and both riders were ejected.

A 60-year-old Brooksville woman who was a passenger on the motorcycle received serious injures. The SUV driver, a 36-year-old Dade City woman, was not injured.

The Highway Patrol did not release the name of the drivers or passenger because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, an amendment to the Florida Constitution passed by voters in 2018 that is meant to protect crime victims but deprives the public of information that had long been made available under the state’s public records law.
