A 31-year-old Parsippany man was killed Friday night on I-80 East near Wharton in Morris County after his motorcycle ran off the road and struck a guard rail, police said.

John Nicholson, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele said.

According to Peele, a preliminary investigation found the crash occurred at 11:30 p.m. when the BMW motorcycle that Nicholson was operating ran off the left side of the road and struck the guard rail causing the driver to be ejected.  

No further information was provided about the crash.
